The Association of Muslim Republicans & Allies meets with Utah Representatives

Today The Association of Muslim Republicans & Allies was honored to meet with Representative Kim Coleman and Dan McCay at American's for Prosperity's event, "It's Working Utah".
We were so impressed with their forthright answers & commitment to helping keep Utah one of the best States in the Union.
Kim was especially attentive & took the time to hear our voices as Muslims who care about America.
Politics belongs to those who show up & if a person refuses to be a part of the process than their voice is lost in the noise.
I want to commend my friend & fellow freedom minded compatriot in the AMRA Abdelrahman Mustapha in being so open in sharing his experiences fighting for the freedoms some of us take for granted.
Abdelrahman is covered in scars from systematic abuse meted out by a corrupt dictator who imprisoned him for daring to question why his homeland of Egypt couldn't exercise their basic God given freedoms such as Freedom of Assembly, expressing political opinion and the ability to vote.
Abdel was placed in a pit with no sunlight & experienced some of the most inhumane treatment known to man for simply wanting to experience freedoms enshrined in our Constitution.
He came to America with a dream of being able to speak to elected officials about his desires & I was honored to be with him as he did so. To see the Human Spirit flourish under Freedom is a beautiful & awe inspiring thing to behold.
As stated, I'm incredibly honored to know Abdel & I hope to see him grow as a leader in Utah politics. In this modern era we can become jaded as to what freedoms means but to be with such a special individual who has sacrificed so much for basic human freedoms humbles me.
I'm in awe of him & I hope I can grow alongside him as we work together as leaders in Utah politics.
May we all remember our God given Rights & honor them in ourselves & others.
We at AMRA dream of a world where we are all free & where we properly care for each other as Human Beings.
Simply put: We believe in Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness.
Thanks again to American's for Prosperity, Representative Coleman & McCay for such a productive day in politics & freedom.

Lower Taxes Equals Being Heard

Let's talk taxes.
An issue of importance to me in politics is taxes.
Specifically keeping taxes low.
My stance on taxes isn't driven by a dislike for taxes themselves as I know that taxes are an important part of keeping our Government running.
I do, however, object to our Government treating people like a chattel upon which to feed.
You see, Government doesn't produce.
The Government doesn't actually create anything.
It can only help shape forces that allow creativity to either occur or not occur.
What the Government does do is take.
It takes money from individuals and distributes it.
As Government grows it seeks to find ways to take more & more from individuals.
The Carbon Tax is a Tax for breathing.
Some places tax for rain that falls on your property.
The Government is trying to find many clever ways to continue taking from individuals even to the level of what our creator has given us freely. Breathing & Rain.
I believe our Government should use our resources wisely instead of finding more ways in which to tax individuals.
Recently I was at a Town Hall & an older gentleman who asked why his taxes are never lowered but only increased. To me, from how this gentleman spoke, seemed to me to be a Veteran.
When this older gentleman asked why our taxes are never lower he had a sound in his voice. A break. A crack. It was the sound of a person who didn't believe he was heard because he equated lower taxes as the same as being heard.
My time in the mental health field has taught me that it's very important for every Human Being to be heard. It keeps us sane & helps us retain our humanity. It's our fundamental right as an American to be heard.
When I heard this man, who I believe is an individual who has served his country, voice crack it broke my heart. It moved me beyond understanding. To this day it brings tears to my eyes when I think of how we made a veteran feel unheard. That we broke him. That he didn't believe that the country he defended listened to him.
My mantra: Lower taxes equals being heard.
I vowed that day that I would always fight taxes because I want people like this man to know that his Government hears him.
I have a dream that this gentleman can open his tax bill & see that it has been lowered.
It's a simple dream but it's my dream. I'm fighting for this man's return of dignity & confidence in the America he served.
One of the reasons I'm so driven in politics is I think of how this older gentleman may not have much time & I must do all I can to let him know he is heard. I can't wait but fight for him now. If I can't lower taxes in is lifetime than I can try to lower taxes in the lifetimes of his progeny.
If I'm elected to Ogden City Council I will fight higher taxes & support ways in which we can cut wasteful spending.
We must do better with what we take from the people because they are trusting us to care about their needs.
Less taking.
Better stewardship.
I have an internal commitment to keeping taxes low & I would ask for your support in doing so by voting for me to represent the people of Ogden in the upcoming Ogden City Council.
